I want to take this opportunity to share a word that the Lord gave me during August 2010.
“There are so few of My people, My own, who live with any awareness of eternity, with a conception of the vastness of My total being.
There are so many who are locked into the narrowness of their own time but have no conception of eternity. Life and time itself are as a blink of My eye in My conception of life.”
“Live to the full says the world, live for eternity, thus says the Lord. My comprehension of life is not measured in length but in quality.
Life is not measured by what any man may accomplish in himself, I measure by what I can live through a life that is offered up to Me for My Will and My purpose.”
If ever there was a generation of people that needs to re-discover the true Gospel of Jesus Christ, it is the people of God living today.
The Parable of The Rich Landowner.
The parable of the wealthy landowner, taught by Jesus Christ is a timely and perfect admonishment to the body of believers because there are so many of God’s people who are being deceived and led astray by ministers who are preaching a wrong gospel, a gospel of greed, a gospel of gratifying the desires of self.
Then Jesus said to them, “Beware, and be on your guard against every form of greed; for not even when one has an abundance does his life consist of his possessions.”
And Jesus told them a parable, saying; “The land of a rich man was very productive. And he began reasoning to himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no place to store my crops?’ Then he said, ‘This is what I will do: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.
And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years to come; take your ease, eat, drink and be merry.”‘ But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your soul is required of you, and now who will own what you have prepared?’ So is the man who stores up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.” Luke 12 v 15-21.
Watch out! Guard Yourself!
Jesus gave a twofold warning to His disciples, and the multitude gathered around Him, Watch out! Guard Yourself, and this warning is just as important and essential for the believer today.
The wealthy landowner put his trust and security in the wealth he possessed from the abundance of fruit produced by his land, but he showed no acknowledgement and expressed no thankfulness to Almighty God who created the soil.
Also, there is no gratitude shown to the workers who sweated and toiled on the ground to bring forth the crop.
Everything in this man’s life was built upon his merit, examine how Jesus conveyed the selfishness of the man’s heart, examine the verses and see the emphasis laid upon me and mine.
And he began reasoning to himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no place to store my crops?’ Then he said, ‘This is what I will do: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years to come; take your ease, eat, drink and be merry.”‘ Luke 15 v 17-19.
No Conception Of Eternity.
This wealthy landowner had no eternal perception of values, he had no conception of eternity, in his reasoning, he said I have much for now, and for years to come, I will take my ease, I will live my life to the full. This man’s attitude to his life was in stark contrast to the teachings of Jesus Christ.
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. “But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will also be. Matthew 6 v 19 – 21.
The life attitude and confession of the wealthy landowner was the pursuit of wealth and riches. But although this man may have accumulated and hoarded up his wealth, although he would appear to be rich in himself, Jesus Christ declared that this man was not rich towards Almighty God, everything he possessed was for himself with no regards towards others.
Living For The Day, What About Eternity?
This man lived for the day, but would not live for eternity, he may have acquired much in his life, but would suffer enormously in his decease, this man readily embraced the material wealth of the earth but gave no respect or acknowledgement to Almighty God who created the earth.
“For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and will then repay every man according to his deeds. Matthew 16 v 26-27.
The Words of Jesus Christ that were proclaimed while He walked in the earth are just as powerful and meaningful today. The Gospel is the Father’s instruction on how a person has to live their lives today, living in a right relationship with Him through Jesus Christ, living also with a proper conception of eternity.
